Coronavirus In Ohio: Deaths Up, New Cases Down

At least 51 Ohioans died from COVID-19-related complications in the past 24 hours, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

COLUMBUS, OH — As day cares reopen, confirmed cases of the new coronavirus dipped versus their daily three-week average in Ohio, the state health department announced on Monday.

There were 471 COVID-19 cases confirmed on Monday in Ohio. That's down versus the 534 COVID-19 cases per day the state had been averaging over the past three weeks.

While new cases, hospitalizations and intensive care admissions were down versus the three-week average, at least 51 people died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Ohio. The state had averaged 40 COVID-19-related deaths per day over the past 21 days.

On Monday, 63 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 13 people went into intensive care because of the virus.

Ohio continued its gradual reopening of the economy on June 1, with day cares and day camps welcoming children again. Banquet halls and catering centers were also allowed to resume business on Monday.
