Gov. John Kasich Is Eating Everything in Sight While Campaigning in New York

The Ohio Governor is in New York before the April 19 primary election, and he's been enjoying himself on the campaign trail.

Presidential election campaigning is a hard day's work. Sometimes after a long day of shaking hands and asking questions one just has to sit down and work through a giant portion of Italian food.

Just ask John Kasich.

During a New York campaign stop at Mike's Deli in the Bronx, Kasich approached campaigning with the gusto of a participant in the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

According to reporters covering the campaign stop, Kasich downed a giant Italian sandwich and three full bowls of pasta.

Unfortunately for Kasich, the food in New York might treat him better than the primary election. Kasich is currently 31 points behind New York real estate developer Donald Trump in a Real Clear Politics polling average. Maybe his eating spree is a last ditch effort earn some extra votes before the April 19 primary.

There are 95 delegates at stake in the New York Republican primary. Currently, Kasich is in a distant third place with 143 pledged delegates. Trump, who has 743 delegates and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has 517 delegates, have called on Kasich to drop out of the race.

But with the way Kasich is eating, he'll be ready to campaign until the convention comes to Cleveland in July. But if he does drop out of the race, he may have a future in competitive eating.
