Indians' Hero Rajai Davis Signs With Oakland A's

Davis' two-run homerun in the 8th inning of Game 7 of the World Series gave Tribe fans instant hope and made Davis a living legend.

CLEVELAND, OH - Rajai Davis, playoff hero of the Cleveland Indians, has reportedly signed a 1-year, $6 million contract with the Oakland A's. The 36-year-old center fielder revived his career with a resurgent 2016 performance that saw him hit .249 over the course of the year.

Despite spending a solitary season in Cleveland, Davis' defining moment as a player will always be his two-run homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning in Game 7 of the World Series. Down 6-4 to the Chicago Cubs, hope for a comeback was circling the proverbial drain. Then Davis stepped up to the plate and clobbered a ball into the left field stands.

In that moment, Tribe fans felt a sense of electric fate. Even though their team would go on to lose the game in extra innings, Davis' shot gave the fanbase and the team an instant injection of life.

Davis was a solid center fielder for the Tribe, but he struggled through much of the playoffs (until that eighth inning miracle). He hit .249 on the year, with 12 homeruns, and 48 RBIs. He also stole 43 bases on the season.
