Man Arrested In Beating Death Of 94-Year-Old: Cleveland Police

Police have arrested a man who they say beat a 94-year-old man to death last Wednesday.

CLEVELAND, OH — A Cleveland man has been arrested and charged in the beating death of a 94-year-old man, according to a news report.

The accused, 41-year-old Michael Dudas, was arrested by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force Saturday and charged shortly after, according to cleveland.com.

Police say Dudas beat 94-year-old Charles Vonderau to death inside Vonderau's home in Cleveland's Old Brooklyn neighborhood. The victim was confined to a wheelchair and had preexisting medical conditions.

His body was found on Wednesday after the victim's family couldn't get a hold of him and called police for a welfare check. His death was ruled a homicide the next day. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said he died of blunt force trauma to the head and body.

Police have not released a motive for Vonderau's killing. Cleveland.com reports Dudas was already wanted by Stow and Brooklyn police for unrelated theft warrants.

Cleveland police's homicide unit is still investigating the attack and asking anyone who may know anything to step forward.
