Masthead Brewing in Cleveland Donating $1 for Every Sold Beer to Officer Fahey's Family
The recently opened company will donate $1 of every beer sold on Thursday.

CLEVELAND, OH - Masthead Brewing Company, which opened Jan. 17, will be donating $1 of every beer sold on Thursday at their establishment to the family of Officer David Fahey. Fahey was hit by a car and killed Tuesday morning while directing traffic on I-90.
In addition to the company's donation, there will also be a representative from Cleveland Police on-hand at the brewery, from 4 to 10 p.m. taking direct donations for the Fahey family. The brewery is located at 1261 Superior Avenue, Cleveland.
A spokesperson for Masthead said the Cleveland Police department were regular guests at the brewery prior to its opening. Officers would pop in and make sure no one had died during construction.

"We were working nearly around the clock installing the brewing equipment and they would stop in and make sure we hadn't fallen off our scissor lifts or been gravely injured," the spokesperson said. "They are a great group of people, and donating $1 per beer sold is only a small token of our appreciation."
Fahey was hit by Israel Alvarez, 44, who fled the scene of the accident. Fahey was taken to MetroHealth where he was pronounced dead. Alvarez was later arrested in Lorain and is facing charges for aggravated vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.
