Murder Suspect Is Olympian Simone Biles' Brother

CLEVELAND — Tevin Biles-Thomas, the brother of Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, has been charged with murdering three people at a New Year's Eve party in Cleveland. The charges against Biles-Thomas were announced this week.

The killings happened at an apartment on Denison Avenue, which had been rented out through Airbnb, Cleveland police said after the murders. The violence started after a group of uninvited people crashed the celebration and then refused to leave, leading to gunfire.

According to police, three people were shot to death and two more were wounded. The three people killed were: Toshaun Banks, 21, Devaughn Gibson, 23, and Delvante Johnson, 19.

Biles-Thomas was taken into custody in Georgia and is being held in that state. He was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on six counts of murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault, and one count of perjury.

He will be arraigned on September 13.
