Nearly 900 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Ohio
Over the past 21 days, Ohio has been averaging 662 new COVID-19 cases per day.
COLUMBUS, OH — Nearly 900 cases of the new coronavirus were confirmed in Ohio on Friday, the state health department announced. That's the largest single-day tally of COVID-19 cases this week.
Officials also confirmed that 35 Ohioans died from COVID-19 complications between Thursday and Friday.
Ohio health officials said 885 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by Friday afternoon. There have now been 23,016 positive COVID-19 tests in Ohio since the start of the outbreak. Over the past 21 days, Ohio has averaged 662 new COVID-19 cases per day.

Testing capacity is still being expanded in Ohio, Dr. Amy Acton, director of the state health department, said Thursday. As testing capabilities are improved, the state could see an increase in positive COVID-19 tests. Currently, Acton said, the state can do a maximum of 8,000 tests per day.

Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, at least 1,306 Ohioans have died from complications created by the virus.
Franklin County leads Ohio in positive COVID-19 tests, with 3,615 confirmed cases. Lucas County leads the state in COVID-19-related deaths, with 161.
