Northeast Ohio Snow: Snowfall Closes Schools, Disrupts Roadways
Schools across Northeast Ohio are closed today due to the heavy snowfall. See how the region is responding.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Northeast Ohio on Monday. Their original prediction of 8-12 inches of snowfall may have been short-selling the storm as schools across the region have cancelled classes for Tuesday.
The NWS says that snow will taper off for much of Northeast Ohio in the early afternoon. The snow belt can expect at least light snow showers to continue throughout all of Tuesday. The entire region will get the benefit of lake effect snow on Tuesday evening, stretching into Wednesday morning.
The NWS is currently projecting snowfall between 2-5 inches through Tuesday afternoon. Another 4-7 inches is predicted for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Until then, dozens of local schools have cancelled classes on Tuesday. The list of closures includes: Avon, Avon Lake, Berea, Lakewood, Solon, and Westlake, among many others. FirstEnergy says the number of power outages throughout the region is much more limited than it was a week ago when high winds left more than 150,000 in Northeast Ohio without power. As of 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, about 345 customers are currently without power, FirstEnergy says.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is also working to clear main drags. The department actually went live from within one of its snow plow trucks to give residents a chance to experience what life is like inside the heart of storm cleanup efforts.
