Ohio Coronavirus Update: 61 New Deaths In 24 Hours, New Cases Dip
The state confirmed fewer new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday than earlier this week.
COLUMBUS, OH — At least 61 Ohioans were reported dead from complications related to the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ohio Department of Health announced. Since the start of the outbreak, 1,781 Ohioans have died because of the virus.
Gov. Mike DeWine has said state leaders are looking at daily averages and trends over three-week periods to determine the spread of COVID-19 in Ohio and the effectiveness of different policies. Many of the key metrics tracked by state leaders appear to have plateaued compared to their three week-average.
State health officials confirmed 484 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Ohio was averaging 578 new cases of COVID-19 daily over the past three weeks. There have been 29,436 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ohio since the start of the outbreak.

At least 81 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, state health officials announced. Ohio has averaged 85-COVID-19-related hospitalizations per day over the past three weeks.
At least 12 Ohioans were admitted to intensive care due to COVID-19, the Ohio Department of Health announced. About 17 Ohioans per day are entering intensive care due to the virus over the past three weeks.
