OH Mayors Want State Bailout for Police, Fire Payrolls (firefighternation.com) — Cleveland could receive about $23.8 million if Ohio lawmakers approve mayors' plans for a new Public Safety Enhancement Fund tied to local police and fire payrolls. Mayor Justin Bibb says the money would help the city keep hiring and retaining officers and firefighters, though the proposal's details and final payout for Cleveland remain uncertain.
   

2. New parking garage coming to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (fox8.com) — Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is moving ahead with a massive overhaul, starting with a new 6,000-space parking garage that will eventually allow construction of a brand-new terminal. The plan also includes relocating and rebuilding the RTA Red Line station and a new ground transportation center expected in 2029. The new terminal is projected to open in 2032, reshaping how Clevelanders use the airport.
   

3. Man found shot in crashed vehicle, woman shot multiple times in separate Cleveland killings (cleveland.com) — Two separate fatal shootings in Cleveland over Labor Day weekend left a 41-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman dead, with both cases now classified as suspected homicides. Cleveland police and the county medical examiner are investigating, but no arrests have been announced. The incidents occurred on East 125th Street near Cornado Avenue and on East 61st Street in North Broadway.
   

4. 'I think it's criminal!': Son asks for help when mom's expensive jewelry goes missing after hospital visit (news5cleveland.com) — A Garfield Heights family is searching for answers after 89-year-old Gertrude Blalock's valuable rings went missing during a stay at Marymount Hospital, part of the Cleveland Clinic system. As the Clinic says it is actively investigating, patient advocates urge Cleveland-area residents to limit valuables during hospital visits, use safes when possible, and carefully document belongings with staff.
   

5. Beaumont School gets Landmark Commission recommendation to demolish Painter Mansion (cleveland.com) — Just up the hill in Cleveland Heights, Beaumont School has won a key Landmark Commission recommendation to demolish the historic but deteriorating Painter Mansion on its campus. The plan would clear the way for new school uses, possibly including a regulation running track, while requiring documentation and partial preservation of the mansion's footprint and features.
