Scouts Place Flags on Grave Sites at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 25

Sunset Memorial Park, which serves as the final resting home for thousands of U.S. veterans, is hosting a free Memorial Day service on Monday, May 27 beginning at 11 a.m. Scheduled events include:

  • Avenue of Flags dedication ceremony
  • Welcome remarks from Comdr. Michael Sobera
  • Reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the national anthem
  • “Taps” by students of Olmsted Falls High School Band
  • 21-gun salute by The American Legion
  • Patriotic music
  • Invocation and reading of 23 Psalm by Chaplin Charles Kiessling

Complementary light refreshments will also be available for all attendees.

In addition, at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Veterans will be at Sunset Memorial to place American flags on veteran grave sites.
