100 Minutes Of Weekly Summer Reading Required For K-5 Heights Students
The district posted its reading requirements for grades K-12 on its website last week.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Students entering grades K-5 in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District are required to read 100 minutes per week over the summer, according to a letter sent to parents on May 22.
The students entering K-5 will need to record their reading on the Summer Reading Log. Then, during the first week of school, students will give their completed log to their teacher. The district provides a list of suggested reading for students on its website.
The summer reading requirements for grades 6-12 are more advanced. For students entering grades 6-8, the summer reading requirement means at least three books must be read by students — including "Among the Hidden" for 6th graders and "Wonder" for 7th graders. The 8th grade students will need read a book either form the CHUH list or of their own choosing. All students will then need to respond to a writing prompt when they return to school in August.

The rising high schoolers will need to read a book of their choice and then join a grade level class on Google Classrooms to post a required response. Students in AP or Early College courses will have separate assignments.
