2 Cleveland Heights Police Officers Dragged 100 Feet by Car

The officers were arresting a woman for being uncooperative during a stop. The woman sped off when they attempted to remove her from the car

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH - Two Cleveland Heights police officers were dragged 100 feet by a car on Jan. 5. The car was driven by a 30-year-old woman attempting to avoid being arrested.

Yesterday at 8:30 p.m., two officers stopped a car at Ardoon Street near Mayfield Road. Officers spoke to the driver, but the woman did not have identification. She told officers a name but police believed she was giving a false identity. The woman would not provide officers with information on her actual identity.

The officers attempted to arrest the woman. Instead of getting out of the car, the woman sped off down Ardoon, dragging both officers with her car. The two officers were dragged about 100 feet down the street before they were able to free themselves.

The driver then lost control of the car and drove into a utility pole. The woman jumped out of the crashed car and ran north on Ardoon. Police pursued the woman and apprehended her a short time later.

Both officers sustained minor injuries as a result of being dragged by the car. They were transported to an area hospital where they were treated and later released.
