2 Teens Indicted For Armed Robbery In Cleveland Heights

Two Clevelanders face charges of using a firearm in an act of violence, for a robbery in Cleveland Heights and another in Richmond Heights.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Two Cleveland teenagers have been indicted in federal court for robbing LoanMax on Cedar Road this summer, the Department of Justice announced. The teens are also accused of robbing a bank in Richmond Heights.

Otis Pamplin, 18, and Josephy Kyle Sanders, 19, have been charged with one count of attempted bank robbery, one count of violating the Hobbs Act, and two counts of using a firearm in a crime of violence. The two crimes took place July 11.

Pamplin, Sanders, and someone identified only as R.E., in court documents, allegedly used a gun to try and rob the Ohio Savings Bank on Richmond Road, in Richmond Heights on July 11. Before the day was over, the trio reportedly robbed LoanMax, at 13216 Cedar Road, in Cleveland Heights.

The FBI, Cleveland Heights Police and Richmond Heights Police led the investigation into Pamplin and Sanders. The case was part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, which brings together law enforcement organizations to reduce violent crime.

In 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions reinvigorated Project Safe Neighborhood and directed all U.S. Attorney's Offices to work in partnership with federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement to develop local strategies to reduce violent crime.
