CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” Crews replaced an old air conditioner at the Heights Libraries Lee Road branch on Monday. The new unit should be more efficient and will save the library system money in the summer.

The old air conditioner unit had to be lifted out of the branch's basement using a crane, a library system spokesperson told Patch. The new unit was also moved by crane.

"While we wish we were open, we are at least taking advantage of the shut-down to get some crucial buildings upgrades done, and those upgrades are definitely easier to do when the buildings are empty. So we're seeing this as a small silver lining to the current situation. This will ensure that, once we're open this summer, customers and staff will be cool and comfortable," the library spokesperson said.

At the Lee Road branch, crews are upgrading the staff work rooms. Work is also continuing at the Coventry branch, where crews are waterproofing the basement.

The library system also reminded Cleveland Heights and University Heights residents that while branches are closed to the public, visitors can still use branch parking lots to access free Wi-Fi services.
