Amore: Italian Songs of Adoration, Desire, and Remorse

Burning River Baroque presents a concert of Italian vocal music from the 17th century.

Join Burning River Baroque for a special one-night-only-in-Cleveland performance of exquisite and dynamic 17th-century Italian vocal works. Malina Rauschenfels (soprano, baroque violin) and Paula Maust (harpsichord, mezzo-soprano) will be joined by Canadian guest artist Bud Roach (tenor and baroque guitar) for a program of music and texts from Northern Italy that explores the various facets of love. Beloved songs of Monteverdi and Merula, rare works by Marini and Borlasca, a playful Sances dialogue, and exciting Frescobaldi duets will be seamlessly woven into an extraordinary and dramatic hour. The concert will be held at Lakewood Congregational Church, 1375 W. Clifton Blvd. on Friday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free; donations are gratefully accepted.

Praised by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as a group that “...left an indelible imprint on my psyche,” Cleveland-based Burning River Baroque is committed to performing music full of vitality and passion. They strive on every attainable level to involve the audience in the drama that is occurring on stage.
