2. School starting, but Denison Park splash pad season may finally be upon Cleveland Heights (cleveland.com) — Cleveland Heights may finally see the long-delayed Denison Park splash pad installed and connected to water by the end of next week, giving families new late-season play options. Parks Director Andres Gonzalez also outlined upcoming playground upgrades, a Cain Park zip line, and progress on reducing leaks at Cumberland pool ahead of a planned rebuild by 2028.
3. Cain Park general manager cited health reasons behind abrupt resignation (cleveland.com) — Cain Park's general manager Suzanne Conway resigned after about six months, citing mental and physical health concerns linked to the job. Parks Director Andres Gonzalez is temporarily overseeing operations while Heights resident Colleen Miller, who previously helped book the 2026 season, returns part-time as the city weighs its next steps on a permanent GM.
4. 17-year-old University School seniors bring TEDxHuntingValley to Greater Cleveland (wkyc.com) — A Cleveland Heights native and Olympic gold medalist, Laila Edwards, will headline a new TEDxHuntingValley event organized by two University School seniors in Hunting Valley this Saturday. The independently licensed TEDx will feature six adult and six student speakers from across Greater Cleveland, exploring overlooked forces that shape people's lives and communities.
5. Cleveland Heights residents pack city hall to oppose license-plate cameras (cleveland19.com) — Cleveland Heights residents packed City Hall to urge officials to cancel the city's Flock license-plate camera contract, citing surveillance, data-sharing, and immigrant safety concerns. Mayor Jim Petras defended the system as a crime-fighting tool, noting strict limits on outside access and a sharp reduction in agencies with data access, while activists vowed to keep organizing until the cameras are removed.
