By passing Issue 81 this Nov. 5, voters in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district will make a crucial long-term investment in our schools and thus in our community's success for decades to come.
The construction that will take place in our community will also provide a surge of investment in the shorter term. Of the $153.6 million that will be spent on Phase 1, $132 million will be spent directly on construction. That represents more than 819,000 construction workforce hours by trade persons, more than $92 million spent on materials, goods, and services incorporated into construction, and potential city income tax revenue of more than $1.2 million. Our many fine local eateries can look forward to providing some of the more than 102,000 lunches that will be eaten by the construction crews, who will no doubt also spend on fuel, refreshments, and other needed items in our conveniently located stores and shops.
So when we pass Issue 81, our community wins long term. And our local merchants win in the near term.
