Big Fun Closing Coventry Location
For 27 years, the Cleveland Heights toy store has been an iconic staple of the city. Now it's planning on closing its doors.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Coventry Road will get a little darker by late June. Big Fun, the iconic retro toystore, announced on Facebook that it would close its doors this summer, ending a brilliant, 27-year run of business.
"I used to joke that they would have to carry me out of Big Fun horizontally. I’m here to say that I much prefer the alternative. After countless hours of discussion with family and friends, I’ve decided to close Big Fun. We are going out with a bang," said owner Steve Presser in his social media post.
Big Fun has frequently made national lists of must-visit brick-and-mortar stores, and for good reason. The eclectic selection of vintage action figures, gag gifts and must-see toys is a child's dream come to life. And it's fun for adults looking to buy that one toy they didn't get at Christmas as a kid.

Presser seemed genuinely sad to leave his toy store behind. In a blog post, he took time to thank everyone that had made his dream a reality for nearly three decades.
"Thank you to my incredible staff for making the Big Fun shopping experience so enjoyable for our beloved customers," he said. "Finally, I will miss you, my special customers, whom I will always remember and treat like my Fun Family. Thank you for allowing Big Fun to put smiles on your faces."

He went on to thank Coventry and the surrounding businesses, saying their support would leave him eternally grateful.
Big Fun will go out with a bang though.
"The final huge 50% off sale event starts this Friday, February 2. There’s tons of great stuff and everything in the store will be HALF off. We will also be bringing items up daily from our 3000+ sq. ft. basement," Presser said.
"We will also be extending our 50% Off Sale at the Vintage Apparel- Made in Cleveland. All vintage knitware, clothing that is great quality never worn. Sale ends Sunday February 11th at the clothing store. It's right down the street at 1782 Coventry( the old American Apparel store)," he added.
