Checking Candy the Day After Halloween
Making sure your child's treat isn't a trick — tips for Halloween candy safety checks
This idea is very important for my family the day after Halloween. We lay out each child's bounty of treats. The rule is not to consume any treats until we carefully inspect every wrapper making sure it is intact, reading labels especially because I have two children with peanut allergies. This process allows portion control to come to the table and the kids don't consume an overload of sweets. The children are allowed to participate in this process.
If there is an overflow of treats the children are part of deciding how much is donated to the childhood church ministry and another use of the overflow is used for the family rewards for good grades, good behavior and chores.
The day after Halloween is very important for safety and healthy consumption of sweets in your child's diet.
