Harvest Night: Enjoy Home-Grown Vegetables with the Whole Family

Prepare a feast with fresh-picked vegetables from the garden

Harvest night is all about getting together with family and friends. We share the fruits of our labor from the vegetable garden to cook. We steam, grill and deep fry tempura style.

We serve watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple for dessert picked up at the local market. We bring bouquets of fresh cut flowers from our flower garden to exchange for keepsakes.

The venue is in the garden of course. We use a large steamer, the grill, deep fryer and an open pit to prepare the vegetables. The guest list is open to the entire family. There's something for everyone.

We serve water and green tea with mint from the herb garden. We use small paper plates, cups, napkins and tablecloths with a garden theme.

We use large, carved out vegetables for tea lighting, a great alternative to purchasing vegetable or flower shaped tea light holders from Michael's or Old Time Pottery.

If you didn't plant a vegetable garden, you can still plan this party by purchasing vegetables and fresh cut flowers, too. However it is more rewarding when you chose to use the home-grown vegetables and flowers.

This is truly a family event to share and to reap our harvest from the seeds we've sown. Have a great day!
