Cedar-Lee District Advances In National Contest
One of the city's key corridors is now a quarterfinalist in the America's Main Street Competition. To win, residents will need to vote.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The winner of the America's Main Street Competition will receive a $25,000 development grant. Only 25 competitors remain in the contest and the Cedar-Lee business district is one of them. To win the money, the corridor will need votes. Lots and lots of votes.
Quarter finalist voting began April 30 and continues until May 27. The city said on Facebook that if it wins, it could use the grant money to enhance the Cedar-Lee mini-park.
The Cedar Lee district doesn't just feature cool mom-and-pop shops and mouth watering cuisine. It's also home to several of Cleveland Heights' defining artistic venues, including Dobama Theatre, Cain Park, Heights Arts and the Cedar Lee theater.

Plus, Cedar-Lee could be in-store for more development. "In 2018, the city is seeking a developer to construct a multi-use building on vacant land it owns in the heart of the district, and FutureHeights is leading a creative place-making effort in the Cedar Lee Mini-Park, a vacated street that connects parking areas to the businesses," according to the street's nomination page.
