CHUH Boys Basketball Season Ends In Tragic Defeat

The Tigers lost to the Solon High School Comets 71-70 on Wednesday night. The Comets also beat CHUH in the 2016 tournament.

EUCLID, OH - The Solon Comets beat Cleveland Heights-University Heights High School in heartbreaking fashion. The Tigers lost 71-70 on Wednesday night after Solon senior David Gulley drained a 3-pointer to put the game away.

The marks the end of a 13-10 season for the CHUH boys. The team had cruised to a victory on March 4, blowing out Madison High School by a tally of 79-61. The momentum from that win was not enough to catapult them past the Comets.

It's a sad case of deja vu for the basketball program. Solon High School eliminated the Tigers last year, though the sting of this year's defeat may linger for even longer than 2016's loss.

The Comets now await the winner of Glenville and Mentor. Those two teams will play each other on March 9. The division championship game will then be played March 11 at Euclid High School at 7 p.m.

Solon is the number one ranked team in the division. CHUH was the number three ranked team in the division.
