Cleveland Heights City Buildings To Be Closed Through May
Parts of the state will begin reopening on Friday, but municipal facilities will remain closed through May 31.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β Despite parts of the state reopening on May 1, Cleveland Heights city facilities will remain closed through at least May 31, according to City Manager Tanisha Briley. The closure does not pertain to first responders and public works staff.
Residents who want to speak with a city staffer or department can leave phone or email messages. Briley said all messages will be returned as quickly as possible.
The threat of the new coronavirus will also cause the cancellation of several upcoming events. Here's what Briley said would be impacted by the virus:

- May 3 - Launch event for Women Out Walking (new date TBA)
- May 4 - Blood Drive at the Community Center (cancelled)
- May 20 - Safety Town registration and this summerβs Safety Town program (cancelled)
- May 25 - Memorial Day ceremony at Cumberland Park (cancelled)
- May 31 - Bike Auction postponed until late summer (new date TBA)
The virus' impact will also reach its tendrils into all of Cuyahoga County.
"Lastly, Cuyahoga County is moving its enforcement of the plastic bag ban from July 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021. The countyβs suggested delay of enforcement is aimed to help businesses during this difficult time while knowing that residents and shoppers are doing all they can to get in and out of stores as quickly as possible to limit the spread of the virus," Briley said.
