Cleveland Heights City Council Looks To Fill Vacant Seat
Applications are now being accepted for Melissa Yasinow's vacated council position.
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β Cleveland Heights City Council is now looking for a replacement for Councilperson Melissa Yasinow, who resigned on March 2. Mayor Jason Stein has promised an open, transparent selection process.
Applications are available for the council position on the city's website and can be submitted online or dropped off or mailed to Cleveland Heights City Hall. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Monday, March 23.
"This will be the same open and transparent process that was used in 2019. Council will review all applications and each applicant will be videotaped and asked three pertinent city questions by members of the League of Women Voters. All applications and videos will be posted on the city's website" explained Stein.

Council will determine the finalists for the vacant position and then personally interview the remaining applicants.
"We welcome and anticipate interest from our citizens who want to serve their community" said Stein.
Yasinow resigned after serving city council for six years. She said she was proud of her work on the Top of the Hill project and then wished her colleagues and city staff the best.
