Cleveland Heights Council Needs Applications For Vacant Seat

With former mayor and city councilperson Cheryl Stephens now working for Cuyahoga County Council, the city needs to find her replacement.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” The city is still seeking applicants for Cheryl Stephens' vacant council seat. Residents have until January 15 to apply for the city council position.

Stephens was elected to Cuyahoga County Council in November. She had previously served as both mayor and city councilperson for Cleveland Heights.

Resumes and other information on the vacant council position can be uploaded on the city's website. Current Cleveland Heights Mayor Carol Roe previously said she expected the open seat to draw interest from the community.

Stephens defeated incumbent County Councilman Michael Houser in the primaries and then cruised to victory in November. She was sworn in and took her seat on her new council on Tuesday.

Stephens now serves as the District 10 representative on Cuyahoga County Council. Her district encompasses Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Brathenahl, and parts of Cleveland.
