CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Following weeks of protests, which swept the nation and came to Cleveland Heights, city officials will hold an online forum on municipal police reform on Thursday. Registration for the event is open now.

The forum will feature Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg, City Manager Tanisha Briley and Ronnie Dunn, a criminal justice professor from Cleveland State University. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. Registration and access can be found on Webex's website.

Questions should be submitted for the event to myp@clvhts.com by June 24 at 3 p.m. Emails should have the subject line "JUNE 25." A chat function within Webex will also be used to field questions during the event.

"This forum will be an opportunity for our community to ask questions and share their ideas. Cleveland Heights Police Department is committed to enhancing its relations with the Cleveland Heights community and welcomes all participants," the city said in a description of the forum.

Protests held over several weekends in Northeast Ohio, and Cleveland Heights, have focused on reforming law enforcement policies and destructing systemic racism. During demonstrations in Cleveland Heights, protesters demanded more town halls and forums to discuss policing reform. Briley and other officials assured the gathered crowd that town hall sessions would be forthcoming.
