Cleveland Heights School Band Plays at Cleveland Clinic
Roxboro Middle School musicians performed for 500 or so people in the Karos Grand Lobby in the J Building.

CLEVLEAND, OH - Gathered in the grand lobby of the Cleveland Clinic's J Building on Jan. 9 were nearly 20 Roxboro Middle School students. Many of them held violins. They were part of the school's Fiddle Club or its 7th Grade Grand Orchestra. If they were nervous, they didn't show it.
Dressed in white shirts and black pants, they looked at ease in the large, open grandeur of the J Building's Karos Grand Lobby. They were there to play for patients and doctors and nurses. More than 500 people strolled across their impromptu stage.
The Clinic's Performing Art Series books various groups to perform in the lobby. On Jan. 9, the hospital system booked Roxboro Middle School.

"Parents who came to watch heard many positive comments from people who stopped to watch the students perform, and audience members could even be seen dancing during the performance of the tango," said Nicole Clouser, instrumental music director for Roxboro, in a statement on the school's website. "I'm so proud of how well they played and represented our school and district."
The students got a special treat when a former bandmember made an appearance. Jordan Perlman, 92, played violin the Roxboro Orchestra in 1939. He took time to chat and pose for a picture.
