Cleveland Heights Stops Bulk Trash Collection Due To Coronavirus
The city said bulk trash collection will resume when the outbreak passes.
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — There are "significant problems" with trash collection in Cleveland Heights during the new coronavirus, COVID-19, outbreak, City Manager Tanisha Briley said. Bulk trash pickup has been halted and residents are being asked to take their bulk items directly to the service department.
Gov. Mike DeWine issued a stay-at-home order on Sunday. The governor's order closed non-essential businesses and directed Ohioans to stay home unless it was absolutely necessary to leave their home.
Due to more residents working from home, there has been more trash and recycling than usual in Cleveland Heights, Briley said. This has led to problems with curbside collection.

"As always, your trash must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day," Briley reminded residents.
There has also been more bulk trash in Cleveland Heights. All city departments are working with a reduced staff, Briley said, and bulk trash collection is not considered an essential function.

"We would like to ask your cooperation in discontinuing placing any bulk items for pickup until this crisis has passed and we resume full operation," Briley said. "You can always bring your bulk items to the service department where dumpsters are available for your use."
The service department is at 14200 Superior Road. Dumpsters are located at the rear of the building.
First responders are continuing to work, unimpacted, through the crisis, Briley said.
