Coronavirus Update For Cleveland Heights; 298 Possible Cases

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — There could be as many 298 COVID-19 cases currently in Cleveland Heights, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health announced. Ohio is seeing a statewide surge in new coronavirus cases.

At least 480 new cases were confirmed in Cuyahoga County last week, the board of health said Friday. Currently, there are a total of 4,260 COVID-19 cases in Cuyahoga County, not including cases in Cleveland. Nearly 1,800 county residents have recovered from the virus.

The county tracks COVID-19 cases by ZIP code. All ZIP codes associated with Cleveland Heights are categorized as having between 196 and 298 COVID-19 cases.

Ohio is seeing a surge of new COVID-19 cases statewide. On Sunday, the state saw an increase in new cases, hospitalizations caused by the virus and admissions to intensive care due to the virus.

A spike in new cases tends to come before other metrics show similar upward trends.

Gov. Mike DeWine said last week that he does not believe an increase in testing capacity is responsible for the surge in new cases. Ohio's positive test ratio continues to hold steady or increase, he said, meaning the virus is more widespread than previously thought.
