Coventry Village Nominated For Main Street Award
The America's Main Street contest recognizes main drags replete with small, independent businesses. The winning street gets $25,000.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH - Coventry Village is an iconic Greater Cleveland street. With unique stores like Big Fun and independent restaurants like Tommy's, the road has chiseled a special place in the region's heart. Now, Coventry Village could be recognized as one of the best Main Streets in America.
The America's Main Streets Contest recognizes streets throughout the nation that support and feature small businesses. Coventry Village has been nominated in the contest and stands to win $25,000 in cash and prizes, if selected. The winnings go to Downtown Improvement Districts, Business Improvement Districts, Independent Business Districts, Independent Business Associations, Local First groups and formal Main Street organizations, according to the America's Main Streets website.
On the Coventry nomination page, the history of the street is detailed, including playing home to Russian and Jewish immigrants to Ohio, hippies, non-conformists, and artists of various stripes. Harvey Pekar, the famous comic book writer, was a known visitor to Coventry.

There are more than 40 locally owned businesses crammed into a quarter mile stretch on Coventry. Concert venue the Grog Shop, record store Record Revolution, and Mac's Back Books are just three of the stars of the street. Coventry is full of stores for everyone.
Coventry has also been home to art installations and galleries, another factor in the street's offbeat, bohemian vibe.

The nominating profile for Coventry concludes with a cheesy, but true statement.
"But what makes Coventry truly special is the people you'll meet, the personal service you'll receive and a unique experience you won't find anywhere else," the profile says. "If you march to the beat of your own drum, Coventry Village is the neighborhood for you!"
