Dobama Theatre, Cain Park Win 2018 Critics Circle Awards

Dobama was recognized for multiple productions, while Cain Park cleaned up with "Memphis."

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” Dobama Theatre took home a bevy of awards from this year's Cleveland Critics Circle. Cain Park was also well represented in the 2018 announcement.

Two Dobama productions were named best non-musical shows of the year: "Grounded" and "Sunset Baby." "Memphis" was named one of the three best musical productions of the year. The Cain Park show kicked-off the park's 80th season.

Douglas F. Bailey's performance in "Memphis" was named the best by an actor in a musical in 2018. Ananias J. Dixon's performance in "Sunset Baby" was named one of the superior performances by an actor in a non-musical this year.

Anjanette Hall's performance in "Grounded" was recognized as the best non-musical effort in 2018. Catherine Albers ("John"), Mary Francis Miller ("Sunset Baby") and Tracee Patterson ("Appropriate") were all recognized for their superior performances at Dobama.

Nicole Sumlin's performance in "Memphis" was noted as a best effort from an actress in a musical.

Alice Reagan was recognized as one of the best directors of the year, for her work with "Grounded." Cameron Michalak was recognized for best scenic design for "John" and "The Effect." T. Paul Lowry was recognized for best projection design for "Ella Enchanted," "The Effect," and "Sunset Baby."

Jordan Cooper was recognized for best musical direction for "Memphis."
