Dobama Theatre Names New Managing Director

Trevor Wise will help lead the theatre after a transition period in May.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” Trevor Wise has been named the new managing director of Dobama Theatre. He will replace Julie Friedman, who is leaving for work and travel abroad.

Wise was selected after a national search was conducted. He was unanimously chosen by the Dobama Board of Directors. Wise will help lead Dobama through its 60th Anniversary season. He and Friedman will work together throughout May during a transition period.

β€œAs we approach our 60th year, the Dobama Board is very excited to welcome Trevor to Cleveland as our new Managing Director," said Board President Marcel Duhamel. "Trevor brings skills and experiences that will help lead Dobama into a new decade of growth."

Wise is currently the donor relations manager for the Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Mass. He has a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre, with an emphasis in Arts Administration, from Texas Tech University. He received an undergraduate degree in Theatre from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Wise was once the development manager of Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Penn. and was part of the staff at Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center when it was named recipient of the 2010 Regional Theatre Tony Award.

Wise also worked at the George Street Playhouse and Florida Studio Theatre. He was raised on a farm in Missouri, is conversationally fluent in German, and is a proud alumnus of the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program.

Wise will be joined in leadership by Dobama's Artistic Director Nathan Motta.
