Dobama Theatre Racks Up Gold From Cleveland Critics Circle Awards

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” The Cleveland Critics Circle 2017 Theater Awards were announced recently and Dobama Theatre took home gold in several categories. "The Flick", particularly, received notice for its production and quality.

"Dobama Theatre is honored to be a part of such a wonderful and expansive theatre community in Northeast Ohio. We celebrate all the superb work happening on professional stages across the region and are humbled and grateful for all the recognition Dobama productions, actors, directors, and designers have received this year," said Nathan Motta, artistic director for Dobama.

"The Flick" was named the best non-musical production, while Christopher M. Bohan won best actor in a non-musical performance for his role in the play. Motta won best director in the non-musical category for his work on "The Flick."

Jabri Little, a senior at the Cleveland School of the Arts, won the rising star award for his role in "brownsville song (b-side for tray)." Cyrus O. Taylor took home best the award for best sound design for the same production.

Dobama's production of "How to be a Respectable Junkie" was also recognized as the "Best Full-Production Premiere of a Script by a Local Writer."

"We look forward to continuing to produce important new plays that reflect the community and time in which we live. Dobama Theatre is so appreciative of all the support we receive from the people of Cuyahoga Country and beyond, and thank everyone for continuing their vital support of the arts as we move into 2018," Motta said.
