Accio, Potter enthusiasts! We summon you to the Grog Shop for a band that’s making music about your favorite book series from author JK Rowling. Cue Harry & the Potters, the wizard rock duo comprising brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge. This band operates independently—no managers, booking agents, recording budgets, publicists, or record labels.
The band started in 2002, playing their first show in a shed in their family’s backyard. They’ve since graduated from shed performances, having played over 500 performances in 49 different states and a handful of foreign countries.
The band has given lectures on wizard rock and helped co-found the Harry Potter Alliance, an organization that inspires social activism based around themes from the Harry Potter books. The HP Alliance was recently recognized by author JK Rowling who wrote: “I am honoured and humbled that Harry’s name has been given to such an extraordinary campaign, which really does exemplify the values for which Dumbledore’s Army fought in the books.”
