Fire Wipes Out University Heights Duplex; Donations Needed

While no one was hurt in the blaze, the flames destroyed 11 people's possessions. Donations are needed to help those impacted.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH β€” A devastating fire tore through a duplex on Tullamore Road over the weekend. While no one was hurt, the flames have displaced 11 people and destroyed many of their possessions.

The duplex, at the corner of Tullamore and Brockway Road, is now a burnt out husk. Crews from six different fire departments were called in to help extinguish the flames.

The Red Cross has stepped in to provide immediate assistance to the displaced, the University Heights Police Department said. The agency will help the duplex residents find temporary lodging, and help pay for the shelter. However, many of the families' possessions were destroyed, including clothing.
