Giving Tree Brings Free Face Masks To East Cleveland

This is the fourth Giving Tree created in Northeast Ohio.

EAST CLEVELAND, OH — Free face masks will soon be dangling from a tree in East Cleveland.

The Giving Tree program brings free face masks to Northeast Ohio communities. The program is unveiling its newest distribution site in East Cleveland on Wednesday.

At 1 p.m. on Oct. 7, an event will be held at the Empowerment Church, 15837 Euclid Ave., to open the Giving Tree to the East Cleveland community. State Senator Nickie Antonio, local attorney Kira Krivosh and Pastor Anthony Mattox Jr. and Shirley Fitzpatrick will speak at the event.

Masks are free for residents. Each person should take only take two masks. Masks should be washed before their first use.

The Giving Tree Project began when Krivosh and Antonio began sewing and donating face masks to their communities. The two began working together to create a network of volunteers to sew masks for Ohioans.

The first Giving Tree is located in Rocky River and began distributing masks on May 28. There are now other Giving Trees in Lakewood and Cleveland. The group has already distributed hundreds of free face masks to Ohioans.
