Go Behind The Scenes At Cain Park: National Preservation Month

Several local groups have planned a series of events, lectures and tours to mark National Preservation Month.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” Fans of Cain Park can go behind the scenes and experience the history and evolution of the area during a June 2 event. It's part of a just-a-bit-late series of events that will celebrate National Preservation Month in Cleveland Heights.

"Spanning the month of May, a series of tours and lectures will explore the ways in which preservation is important to this community, and will delve into its history," the city said on Facebook, noting that it takes great pride in its storied history.

Here are just a few of the events: an exploration on the history of parks in Cleveland Heights, the city's connection to Shakers and Shaker Heights, and a peak at Cleveland Heights "secret" stream β€” Shaw Brook. The events are being put together collaboratively by the city, Heights Library, the Cleveland Heights Landmark Commission and the Cleveland Heights Historical Society.

The series will conclude with the behind-the-scenes tour of Cain Park, which is also a way of celebrating the park's 80th anniversary. Attendees at that tour will be able to see the scene and costume shops, the backstage of the Evans amphitheater, dressing rooms and more.
