Heights Libraries Release Interior Renderings of New Library

The library system also released photos from the current construction project.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH - As work on a $5.6 million renovation continues, the Heights Libraries system has released renderings of what the interior of the new University Heights library will look like. The renderings were developed by architect CBLH.

The branch will be closed for 14 months while the construction takes place. The renovations to the branch include designated areas for children and teens, additional parking, a back door entrance, an elevator and additional restrooms. The branch hasn't received major renovations since it opened in the 1950s and many of the updates will accommodate handicapped visitors.

The University Heights branch is the only library in the city and the second most trafficked branch in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights library system. According to library statistics, the University Heights branch has the highest items borrowed per visitor is the highest of all four of the system’s branches; meaning that University Heights residents use their library more than the other three branches.

“Simply put, these renovations are long overdue,” said Sheryl Banks, the library system's marketing and communications manager in September when the project started.

The library system also shared photos from Regency Construction, the group handling the renovation project. The photo above and others like it can be found here.
