For some members of the school district community, Dixon is now at the center of a maelstrom of controversy. She signed a contract to join the Columbus City Schools, as superintendent, but was expected to stay in Cleveland Heights through the end of the school year. Over the weekend, it was announced that would not happen.

Instead, Dixon will leave the district in early March. She will also spend one day a week in Columbus during the week between January and her departure.

"I still intend to see through our current initiatives and give my full attention to CH-UH before I start in Columbus. I appreciate the flexibility shown by both Boards in determining what is best for each district," Dixon said in a statement.
