Helicopter Used To Catch Car Chase Suspect In Cleveland Heights
The Ohio State Highway Patrol chased a vehicle through Cleveland and into Cleveland Heights on Thursday afternoon.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β A car chase sped through Cleveland and into Cleveland Heights on Thursday afternoon. The Ohio State Highway Patrol used a helicopter to catch the suspect, who abandoned his car near South Noble, according to Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg.
The chase entered Cleveland Heights a little after 4:30 p.m., Mecklenburg said in a post on social media. That's when the Ohio State Highway Patrol contacted Cleveland Heights Police about their chase.
The troopers had attempted to stop a car in Cleveland. Instead of yielding, the driver sped up and led law enforcement on a winding chase into Cleveland Heights. Troopers said the suspect's car had been seen going south on Forest Hill Boulevard.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter was called in and tracked the suspect's car from overhead. The car was seen driving on South Noble, where the driver ditched his vehicle and ran into a nearby ravine.
Troopers arrived on the scene and were alerted to the suspect's whereabouts by the helicopter pilot. The suspect was taken into custody a little while later.

Cleveland Heights Police were not directly involved with the incident but did respond to South Noble to lend assistance to the troopers, Mecklenburg said.
