Hit-And-Run Accident Kills Cleveland Heights Man

A 45-year-old was leaving his job at a Cleveland restaurant when a speeding car hit his vehicle and killed him.

CLEVELAND, OH — A Cleveland Heights man was killed during a hit-and-run car accident in Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood. Dion Liddell, 45, was found dead at the intersection of E. 124th and St. Clair on Saturday.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office released Liddell's name on Monday morning. His body was found in the early morning hours on Saturday, near the Open Pitt Bar-B-Que parking lot.

Liddell was driving a Nissan Versa Note. As he was leaving Open Pitt, where he reportedly worked, and turning on E. 124th, a 2008 Dodge Charged hit the left side of his car. The Charger was speeding, WKYC reported.

The Versa Note slid about 115 feet before stopping near the St. Clair Avenue intersection. Liddell was found dead on the scene.

The Charger crashed into a nearby utility pole, but the driver ran off. Police have been unable to find the driver and no information has been released on the suspect.

Open Pitt was closed August 11 after the crash. The restaurant re-opened on Sunday.
