Indictments Handed Down In Murder Of Cleveland Heights Woman

Yaphet Bradley, the father of three of the woman's kids, faces charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping, gross abuse of a corpse and more.

CLEVELAND, OH β€” In late March, a dead body was found stuffed into a trash can at an abandonded Cleveland home. That body was later identified as 31-year-old Miriam Johnson, a Cleveland Heights woman and mother of four, who had been missing for a month. Now two men have been indicted in connection to her death.

Yaphet Bradley, 35, has been indicted on 15 charges, including aggravated murder, kidnapping, murder, felonious assault, domestic Violence, gross abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. Bradley is the father to three of Johnson's four children. He had previously been accused of domestic violence against Johnson.

β€œIt is very sad that four children are without a mother due to these barbaric actions,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. β€œWe will fight for Miriam on behalf of her family.”

Calvin Young, 24, has also been indicted for allegedly helping Bradley dispose of Johnson's body. Young has been indicted on charges of aggravated burglary, gross abuse of a corpse, obstructing justice and tampering with evidence.

Johnson was shot in the head and had stab wounds on her body, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said, according to Fox 8.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for April 26.
