Interim Principal Hired For Heights High

The district was forced to hire an interim principal after its top candidate for the position turned down the job.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The district has named an interim principal for Cleveland Heights-University Heights High School. Brian Williams, coordinator of alternative programming at the Options Center for the district, will take over the position for the 2017-2018 school year.

The district was forced to hire an interim principal after its top candidate for the job turned down an offer to lead the high school. In a statement, the district said it would resume its hunt for a full-time principal for Cleveland Heights-University Heights High School in spring 2018.

“While having an interim principal is not my preference, I couldn’t think of a better leader for Heights High than Williams, who has graciously agreed to serve in this interim role,” said CH-UH Superintendent Talisa Dixon in a statement. “He has been in the district for 20 years and has demonstrated considerable success with the Options program, especially in helping to increase our graduation rate. Williams is student-centered and works collaboratively with the administration, teachers, and staff.”

Claude Holland will serve as the Interim Options Site Supervisor for 2017-2018.

“I am honored and excited about the opportunity to lead Heights High in the upcoming year,” said Williams. “I look forward to getting to know the students and their families and working together with our tremendous high school staff. It is tough to step away from Options for the year, but I know that Mr. Holland and the Options staff will continue to be champions for the students we serve.”
