The 51-year-old burglar stole from homes in Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, Cleveland and other cities.

CLEVELAND — On Wednesday, a judge will sentence a burglar who stole from numerous homes in Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, Bedford and Cleveland.

Bobby Weatherspoon, 51, has pleaded guilty to breaking into and stealing items from homes around Cleveland and the eastern suburbs. During the spree, he stole jewelry, credit cards, purses, wallets, yard equipment, an electric scooter and a car, prosecutors said.

The thefts happened between June and October 2019. In one incident, a Maple Heights woman returned home and found a car already in her driveway. She then saw Weatherspoon rummaging through her garage, prosecutors said.

After being confronted, Weatherspoon got into his car and drove away, hitting the woman's car. The woman's two teenage children were inside her vehicle.

"During his crime spree, Weatherspoon led Maple Heights Police on a pursuit when he lost control, hit another vehicle, and fled the scene on foot. DNA evidence, video surveillance, and multiple eyewitnesses connected Weatherspoon to the crimes," prosecutors said on Tuesday.
