Lee Road Library Starts Limited Lobby Service June 2

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The Heights Libraries will enter the next part of their phased reopening on June 2, when limited lobby service begins at the Lee Road branch.

Customers who enter the lobby must wear masks and must keep 6 feet of distance between themselves and staff and other patrons. The lobby will have red guides marking appropriate distance for customers.

The library lobby will be open during the following hours:

  • Tuesday and Thursday — 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Friday and Saturday — 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Seniors only hours on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday — 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

While in the lobby, you can:

  • Pick up tax forms
  • Pick up your held materials
  • Make copies or send a fax
  • Check out items using a new touchless self-serve station (library card required)
  • Ask staff questions about your account (staff will be behind plexiglass at the circulation desk)

The transition to limited lobby service will eliminate curbside holds pickup service. Customers who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons can call their library branch and arrange a special pickup service.

The Coventry, Noble and University Heights branches will offer limited lobby service starting June 9.

The Heights Libraries recently announced $2 million in budget cuts. The Heights Libraries 2020 budget is $11,585,412. The library system will have hit the half-way point of budget spending on June 1.

More than half the cuts will come from salary and benefits reductions.
