Nellie's Last Ride: Mobile Library In Cleveland Heights Ends Service
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Library system's mobile book unit, Nellie, will no longer be used as another branch re-opens.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β Over the past 12 months or so, residents in Cleveland Heights and University Heights have grown to know a travelling mobile library bus, named Nellie. Nellie has brought books and other materials to neighborhoods that normally made use of the University Heights branch, which was closed in Sept. 2016 for renovations.
As August wound down and September brought tidings of fall to Northeast Ohio, Nellie went out for her last ride. Her trips through the communities will be no more after last week. Nellie's last stop was at the Huntington Green Apartment, 2201 Milton Rd., University Heights, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The University Heights Library is nearing the end of its $5.6 million renovation. The renovations to the branch include designated areas for children and teens, additional parking, a back door entrance, an elevator and additional restrooms. The branch hadn't been updated since the 1950s. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Cleveland Heights newsletter.
