New Administrators Hired For CHUH Schools

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education approved the hiring of a new athletic director, as well as other new additions.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education approved four new administrators for the district on Wednesday. In addition, the board also approved the transitioning of one team members to a different role.

Among the new hires is Karen Liddell-Anderson, who will become the new Director of Student Services. Liddell-Anderson was previously the Director of Special Education at Akron Public Schools, a role she held for a decade. She has also been a special education coordinator, a middle school assistant principal, an intervention specialist, and an adjunct professor at Summit College and the University of Dayton.

The current Director of Student Services, Jeff Johnston, will be transitioning into the role of principal of Monticello at Heights Middle School. The second new hire is Lindsay Baar, who will become the new Coordinator of Student Services. Baar was previously the principal of Gaitway High School, a school for children with social and academic needs serviced through the Geauga County ESC and Fieldstone Farm. She also spent five years as an intervention specialist with both Gaitway and the STARS Autism Program.

Finally, the district approved the hiring of new Athletic Director Joseph D'Amato. D'Amato spent the past two years as athletic director at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School. He was also the athletic director of Gesu School in University Heights. He has coached high school basketball and football for six years and has held various leadership roles in sports marketing.

The board also approved the return of Desi Stewart as the district's Heights High Faculty Manager. Stewart has previously served as the health and physical education teacher at Monticello and Wiley middle schools, as well as the faculty manager and head girls track coach at Heights High. Most recently he worked as the director of athletics for Richmond Heights High School.
