New Equipment Being Installed At Heights Community Center

The facility will be closed during the update. The new equipment will cost about $240,000, a city official told Patch.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The Cleveland Heights Community Center will be closed this week for its annual maintenance. When the facility re-opens, on September 4, visitors will see new and improved equipment waiting for them.

Joseph McRae, the city's director of parks and recreation, said the upgrades will cost about $240,000 and will be financed through a municipal lease. There will be three primary areas where guests will see new equipment:

  • A new Nautilus Inspiration strength equipment circuit (plate loaded equipment) with multiple stations for upper, lower and core body workouts.
  • New cardio equipment such as Star Trac cross trainers and upright bikes, Schwinn bikes for spinning classes, rowers, and NuStep recumbent cross trainers.
  • New personal training room equipment.

The revamped equipment offerings were chosen as part of a partnership between the city and Design Fitness.

The equipment will be installed during the Community Center's annual closure for maintenance and cleaning, McRae said. During this time, anywhere from 10 to 20 city employees will be deep cleaning the entire facility and preparing for the arrival of the above-mentioned equipment.
