Ohio Brothers Sentenced To Prison For Fatal Heroin Overdose
The two were sentenced to spend six years in prison for selling heroin and fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose.

SOUTH EUCLID, OH - Six years in prison is the sentence issued for two Northeast Ohio brothers that conspired to bring heroin and fentanyl into the region from Connecticut, law enforcement said. Abiemelec Vega, 26, of Cleveland, was sentenced to 74 months in prison. Misraim Vega, 28, of South Euclid, was given 72 months in prison. Both Vegas were previously found guilty of conspiracy to possess and intent to distribute heroin, acetylfentanyl, and fentanyl in 2016, law enforcement says.
Abimelec has identified himself as a member of the Latin Kings gang. He said he was capable of bringing in large shipments of heroin and fentanyl using his gang connections. The Vegas eventually sold 80 grams of heroin for approximately $8,000 on Aug. 26, 2016.
Mizraim reportedly said, "The one thing Iβll tell is to make sure to cut it (dilute the heroin). That stuffβ¦you canβt send it to the street like that, itβs too strong. That stuff could kill someone, bro!β

Sadly, his words proved prophetic. Between Aug. 26 and Sept. 3, the Vegas heroin and synthetic heroin did cause a fatal overdose. Abimelec then told a source that he planned on changing phones because someone had died using his drugs, law enforcement says.
The Vegas were investigated by the FBI. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret Sweeney.
